Sunday 22 Mar, CY day 8: Another slow day today. This morning it’s very dull and rainy. In between shutting and reopening hatches, Oana is into her book while I am watching SailRite videos on tips & techniques for using our new sewing machine. Gladly, I had downloaded every video I could before we left USA. Sewing, using the machine, will be an interesting new skill to learn.
Mid afternoon we head ashore, for a Sunday treat. The local Irish pub does a Sunday roast lunch and today is the last day any restaurant will be open for the foreseeable future. After 15 minutes walk we arrive to the large Fidel Murphy Pub & Kitchen. There are only a few people here, so keeping 6ft distance is thankfully no problem. Pretty quickly we are armed with a Kilkenny beer, a Magners cider and two large roast lunches. It’s not the best Sunday roast we’ve had, but still pretty good after a long abstinence. This is then followed by a sticky-toffee-puddling that IS one of the best we’ve had. Late afternoon we walk out feeling very full – too full in fact. Could this be classed as panic buying? With us not knowing when our next Sunday roast dinner will be?
After an hour R&R on Cloudy we are back ashore again. This time along with our PC. The LobsterPot restaurant will also close after today and likely they will also shut off their internet. So we decided we should upload the next video while we still can. This one is much bigger than the last plus the internet seems very slow. It ends up taking us nearly 4 hours on the uncomfortable wooden benches, and we finally return to Cloudy in the dark.
So ends another day of being marooned in one place. We’ve been here for over a week already.
