Charleston, day 4 – admin and East Bay night life

Saturday 23 Jun: Leisurely day in Charleston
A very late rising today. Always nice to be back in your own bed! The morning was spent catching up on internet admin. We really did need a day to relax a little. It’s desperately hot and humid outside, but inside the saloon our aircon keeps us cool and the air dry.
Early evening we head out to hit the town. Walking again in the old town; first through the market where there are lots of arty stalls, then exploring the various bars and soaking up the atmosphere. It’s very busy, particularly with bachelorette parties which seem to be out everywhere we go! After last night’s young rowdy scene at the north end of King Street we look for quieter more mature audience tonight.
Our first stop is in The Establishment where there is someone playing a grande piano and over the bar is a huge screen is playing an episode of The Blue Planet. Nice to watch the amazing footage again, but not quite the same without David Attenborough’s narration.
Later we end up in Henry’s House where there is more upbeat live music. But the crowd there is already fairly “tanked up” on booze! Maybe they could actually do with a little prohibition here again! Haha.
Another Uber ride back to the marina puts us in bed by the early hours. Isn’t Uber simply amazing? We have never waited more than 3 minutes for a ride, and the drivers are always excellent.
