Grenada, day 6 – Prickley Bay

Prickley Bay, Grenada
Prickley Bay, with more than 100 yachts anchored, Grenada
L'Anse aux Epines beach, Grenada

Wednesday, 7 Jan: Using the Dodgy Dock WiFi overnight, Oana manages to upload the Atlantic crossing video onto our YouTube channel, Sail Cloudy Bay. Hope you enjoy watching it from a comfortable seat! And please feel free to subscribe to our channel.

It was nice to have a night on a mooring buoy rather than at anchor for once – no worrying about the anchor slipping. We wake to more sunshine and showers and do a bit of admin before heading ashore. This morning the charger worked perfectly. Obviously it’s planning to play a different game with us each day!

Once ashore we walk and explore the Blue Bay, and the nearby Prickley Bay, having beer stop on the way. This is the most popular bay in Grenada and is packed with over 100 yachts! Along its sides are posh residences with manicured lawns and gardens right down to the waters edge.

After a few steep hills we end at Calabash Boutique Hotel on L’Anse aux Épines beach. As recommended by Lea and Jeremy on Facebook, it has a lovely terrace restaurant, but the prices are too high for us poor boaty people! The hotel has wonderful gardens ending on the beach with over hanging trees. We take a walk up the beach where lots of local children are joyfully playing in the water.

8Km later, we are back to the boat for a bit of love & care for CB, cleaning around the exhaust and polishing the blue strip.
The internet has died so Glen goes off to the restaurant to investigate, and gets absolutely soaked in the largest down pour we have seen so far. So much for the dry season!
