Sunday 19 Apr, CY day 36: Today it’s Oana’s Easter Sunday, which we celebrate by… doing nothing different! Well, not quite true, I give her an Easter kiss and hug, she calls her family and we have a fridge full of Easter chocolate, which I’m trying to eat for the both of us 🙂
After a fresh viewing of the video we finished last evening, Oana starts its upload to YouTube while we have the WiFi. Because early next week we might have to move away from this WiFi signal due to the wind is forecast to come from due south which will make our current mooring pretty uncomfortable.
After breakfast and usual mid morning reading of news, we start on the rear shade for the bimini. As usual, a good proportion of the initial time is taken thinking about how best to go about it. We’re sure an experienced canvas tailor would know instantly but for us this sewing stuff is all new. And above all, we don’t want to waste any of our precious material supplies.
Midday we get a pleasant surprise – rain! In the 5 weeks here we’ve only had a few drops of rain, but this time we get a full black cloud of it right over us. It doesn’t rain too hard, but enough to wet everything and above all the smell is exquisite. Just like summer rain at home. I use the opportunity to get out there and clean all the dust off the boat. But no sooner has the rain soaked the decks than it stops. Just enough rain to make dirty streaks over everything. So out comes the deck wash hose and for the next hour I finish off the job that the rain-gods just left half done. Let’s hope the rain at least dampened down the dust on land, for a few days.
By late afternoon all 8gb of video is uploaded. Thank you Balboa Beach WiFi…. whoever you are. And well done Oana for another creation. Sailors will love this one.
Meanwhile, the saloon is again a sewing workshop. I manage to cut out and start sewing the rear sunshade, the top part of it. But will need a windless day to try it for size and do the next step. From tomorrow onwards the wind is due to blow so it maybe a while.
And that was another day stuck aboard Cloudy. Time is marching on. Tomorrow we must start making some calls and work towards a forward plan.
