Wednesday 5 June, MD day 11: Farewell Cloudy Bay!
Departure day has arrived. Today we fly to UK for a wedding and family events, then fly to our home in Bucharest. And still lots of last minute things to get done before our 3pm departure time.
First we have our last run to Deale hardware, where Glen buys some stronger line for the over boom tarp. In fact we buy 600ft of crab fishing line at a great price. After re-tying the tarp, Glen decides he will also replace the leader lines used to replace the halyards that we have removed. He is a bit worried that the ones we previously used could chaff through in four months.
Meanwhile, I am finalizing the packing and last minute jobs inside the boat (like defrosting fridges). My head is really pounding these last few days. No amounts of headache pills seem to get rid of it. Is this the price of being inside the boat for the last few days?
Mid afternoon, running slightly late as usual, we have our last showers and get all our luggage down the step ladder and into the car. Never an easy job! And after final shut down of the systems, we lock the boat and bid our farewell to Cloudy Bay, telling her to be good over the coming months. It will be very interesting to see what state she is in when we return. Hopefully no one tries to clean her while we are away. We will look forward to that pleasure when we return and rebond with Cloudy Bay.
So this is our last blog for a while. We plan to be back to the boat on 11 October. At that time, we will resume our blog. Till then, have a great summer y’all.
