About Us

We are Glen (British) and Oana (Romanian). We met in Bucharest 11 years ago where we both worked for the same international oilfield services company. Glen’s background is engineering and management, Oana’s background finance and marketing. From there we moved to Dubai for 4 years and got married in 2015.

In early 2016, with the decline in business, Glen was offered early retirement after a 31 years career. This triggered our decision to end our professional days, knowing we will not miss the long office hours, the power-points, the endless row of emails or the stress.

We are both restless spirits with travel and adventure in our hearts, so we needed an action plan for the next phase of our lives. Glen has been passionate about sailing since his teen years, with racing high on his preferences. Oana started sailing while in Dubai, where we were racing a J22. So, it came naturally that the next stage of our lives would involve buying a sailing yacht and start cruising extensively. A trip to Dusseldorf Boat Show convinced us we wanted to pursue this path, and a couple of months later (and extensive boat research) we had a short list of boats we wanted to see in order to choose our future home. Currently, this lifestyle suits us perfectly, Oana loving the travel and Glen loving the sailing. We have a long list of places to sail to, with no firm agenda or deadline. Our aim is to complete a circumnavigation and explore as many places as possible. This is our blog, where we keep a record of our adventures, and we invite you to follow along.
