Charleston to Maine, day 11 – Boston, admin

by Oana

Friday 6 July: quiet day onboard, catching up on admin.
Up late again. It seems we are finally catching up on sleep after the last few weeks of hectic moving. The wind is strong and the sky darkening. By midday the forecasted rain and thunder come across strongly and we hibernate inside doing admin.
And for the first time in 2 weeks we run the generator to charge the batteries. Recently we’ve had the engine on so much that we were always topped up on battery power. Plus, now that the sea water is so much cooler, the 3 fridges are running much more efficiently, using a lot less power.
We have joined several cruising clubs hoping to get some insight to places before we see them. The last to give us membership is the Ocean Cruising Club. Today we log into the OCC site and find tons of information and contacts. Finally we start to see some light on where we can leave the boat to travel to Europe. Glen sends lots of emails and soon we get replies and the phone is ringing. Now we have too much information!
By late afternoon the sun is back out and the temperature has finally decreased to comfortable. But we stay on board relaxing for once. Lovely, we were in need of a chill-day.
In the evening, we even joke that we should put the heater on. And at night we wish we had, as we are fighting for the duvet, who gets to wrap in it. A duvet on the bed, unheard of this season so far!
