Huntington, admin onboard

by Oana

Monday 24 September: Huntington NY, admin day.
Although it was a very quiet night, we both woke up several times throughout the night. Maybe we are too used sleeping with earplugs. Dark sky today, but feels warmer than in the previous days.
After breakfast, we started tackling a long list of small admin stuff. First, the “gadgets cupboard” needed re-organizing, to accommodate the new items we bought in NYC. We gave a testing to the new external microphone and fluffy-cat for GoPro, but can’t really tell if it’s any better. We need good wind for a proper test.
While Oana caught up with finances and emails, Glen took diesel samples. It’s hard to see any debris in this red diesel, but at least for sure there isn’t any water in the diesel tank. And while at the diesel task, we also went for a short trip to the fuel dock. Oh, how reluctantly we put the fenders out, calculating to the centimeter for them not to touch the water and get salty again! Now that we are fully topped up on both our tanks, hopefully we will need to refill only once more, right before we leave USA in November.
Back to our mooring buoy, we carry on with more bits of admin: flushed salt water on the decks, cleaning, polish the stainless and chrome fittings inside the boat, aerate the pillows and mattresses in the guests cabin, etc. We want Cloudy Bay to look her best for Alex’s arrival tomorrow!
Mid-afternoon we took an Uber to Huntington town, where we walked the few streets, browsed some shops and did our provisioning in the supermarket. The town is small, quiet, but very appealing. Maybe we will return to have a better look at it. And hopefully it will be on a sunny day!
Back onboard Cloudy Bay we carry on with tidying the boat, putting the shopping away, and having our main meal for the day: lunch at dinner time! So nice to eat healthy food again after all that junk-food in NYC! Then more admin on the videos front, trying to catch up with the editing of the next episode.
We go to bed all excited, Alex arrives tomorrow! Just a shame it is forecast to be a miserable rainy day.
