Martinique, day 15 – Anse de l’Ann

by Glen (via IridiumGo)

Wednesday 2 May: Darius is up early again and we are also woken by the first ferry at 6am, which seems intent to come as close to Cloudy Bay as they can, with their wake banging hard under the stern …. directly under our bed!
It was worth getting up early though. It’s a beautiful morning, calm, clear and sunny and the anchorage scenery is very pleasant. Glen says he feels he could be anchored on one of the Italian lakes.
By 8am we lift the anchor, washing off thick mud; the usual downside of a quiet anchorage.
30 minutes later we arrive into Anse de l’Ann, a very pretty beach backed by a village just south of Anse Mitan where we were yesterday.
Pretty quickly we are on the beach entertaining Master D with stone throwing in the water, then having a very nice morning coffee at a beach cafe. We are served by a Czech girl who used to live and work in Oxfordshire but had found it too rainy!
For Lunch Oana makes one of her wonderful ciorba soups (a classic Romanian soup) but Darius has his usual eating tantrum and is kept quiet with lots of bread and sour cream. It’s difficult to watch him always getting what he wants rather than what he needs.
Afternoon is relaxing on deck, in the hammock, in the paddling pool on the aft deck, and off the swim platform, before we head ashore for a sundowner (or two) at happy hour on the beach.
Then nice evening in the cockpit, chatting away till bed time.

Enjoying your blog and reliving my past. Looking forward to your YouTube posts. Sailing with little people will make memories for them and you but your reward comes when they are more mature and in conversation you realize that you made a lasting memory for them. Would like to know more about your destinations in the US and if the Gulf of Mexico is in your plans. Be safe! Jon
