Saturday 31-March: Very peaceful night on our quiet mooring in Marigot Bay. We decide to stay another day and just chill out today with admin tasks, and thus force Glen to rest his back, which seems easier this morning.
After breakfast we fly the drone off the deck and get a nice view of this pretty bay while the sun is in the best direction. The rest of the day is playing with video clips and other admin tasks.
In the evening we need to stretch our legs, so go ashore to check out the ambiance. As we stroll along the marina board walk we see that the motor yacht Milk & Honey have arrived and docked. We met various members of its crew in Canouan, where we had a fun evening with them. As we approach we see the crew on the jetty, sipping beers and chatting. We surprise them with a hello, and we catch up with them regarding where each boat has been since we last met. They have this evening off, in between charter guests.
The Capella Hotel bar looks pretty dead so we decided, with the others, to take the small ferry across to Doolittles bar and restaurant on the other side of the bay. It’s quite full with people eating dinner, and there is a small band playing. A nice atmosphere. We settle around the bar and continue our chatting. There are also pool tables, so Glen and Felipe, a Brazilian, have a few games. To Oana’s surprise, Glen knows how to use a pool cue! There are always new things to learn about each other it seems! As Milk & Honey have new guests arriving tomorrow, they have a “curfew” of 11pm imposed on them by the captain, so we are left alone as they go to their duties.
But soon 5 energetic French turn up. Fred, Maryl and their 3 guests. They have a Bavaria 46 that they charter out. We manage to have a good chat about what to expect in Martinique, our next island. We can’t wait to see how it will be. Sounds like Oana will need to be using her French, as English is not widely understood there.
On the way back to Cloudy Bay we hear music coming from a venue inside the mangrove swamp. So we go and investigate. We dock the dinghy on a pontoon near the sound and manage to discover a board-walk through the moonlit mangrove trees to the venue. As usual we find that loud music doesn’t directly imply a crowded event. There are a few locals there but otherwise clearly winding down for the evening. So it’s back to the dinghy and back on board for another peaceful night.
