Boothbay Harbor, more admin

Friday 10 August: Boothbay Harbor, more admin. Early morning again, we are up before 7am. Nice breakfast today, we have fruits and yogurt!
Then it’s a long list of emails to send, and several calls to U.K., trying to troubleshoot our WiFi BAT booster antenna which still seems to boost weak WiFi signals but for some reason tells us “cannot connect to that network”, no matter what network we try. When it worked it was brilliant. But the issue and frustration remain unsolved after several hours of unsuccessful attempts. Hm, looks like we will need to buy a new one. Glen had nearly sealed it up with epoxy paint. So while it’s bullet proof from weather, there is now no way to get into it to investigate the issue.
We really wonder if anything on this boat will carry on working for more than a year without need of intervention! It’s hard to think of ANY piece of mechanical or electrical equipment on board that hasn’t demanded our attention in the last 2 years.
We then go ashore to collect the rest of our deliveries (new composite gas bottles and a CO2 fire extinguisher) and settle the bill for our mooring. Back at the boat, more faffing with IT, trying to set up Glen’s new iPhone. Which is another unsuccessful task. Of course, it needs a WiFi network to finalize the setup ….. which we don’t have, now that our WiFi antenna lies butchered in the trash bin! Aarghhhh!
On Sunday we would like to attend a rally organized by the Ocean Cruising Club in Camden, and we make lots of calls to find a mooring there. None available though, so we either go and hope to find a spot to anchor, or we skip it.
While mounting the fittings for the new fire extinguisher in the cockpit locker, Glen notices that a plastic bottle of aluminum cleaner has leaked all over the locker base. It was the only liquid container that was not in a secondary container. It had to be the one to spring a leak eh? Typical! So everything comes out and the locker undergoes full cleaning. Well, it needed a good clean out anyway.
In the evening we cheer ourselves up watching a movie, “Her”, but it turns out to be one of those ‘let’s hope it finishes in the next 2 minutes’ movie.
All in all, a bit of a frustrating day.
