Canouan, day 5 – admin day

by Oana

Sunday 11-March: As usual, the weekend seems to be our working days. Last night we were up till 1am with various jobs and IT. It’s so rare to get good internet, let alone strong internet like here, that we must take full advantage of it.

We plan to leave the marina today so we again work on getting completely up to date with our uploading. We have just 1 more video to produce. By midday we finish the Canouan one and upload it.

Glen then runs various tasks while we are in the quiet of the marina with both power and water. First the generator raw water system get another flushing. Same for the outboard motor. The dinghy cover gets some overdue adjustments, making holes for the inflate valves. And a quick hull polish around the exhaust pipes, which are continually blackened as we use the engine. Then all the mooring lines, shore power cable and water hose need putting away before we can move.

Finally, at 5pm we leave. Plan was to simply anchor back in the bay next to the marina, but it’s now very choppy. It would be an uncomfortable night. So we venture round back into Charlestown bay which now has about 20 yachts anchored, compared to zero 3 days ago when the north swell was coming in. We anchor just before sunset then retire inside to watch a movie with cocktail and popcorn. You’ve got to relax on a Sunday evening, right?
